I am a practicing ceramicist ,creating in my own home studio in Cape Town.
My artistic flair has always been there thanks to my Italian family heritage.
I applied to study a 3 year Fine Art Diploma at Wits Techknikon in Johannesburg
and ended up specializing in Ceramic Design in 1994,which I totally love.
The designs are inspired by architecture, clothing and textiles
and mainly nature in all its organic forms like flowers, shells and leaves.
I try to reflect the beauty and purity of forms I see all around me.
Each piece is signed KIKA my nickname called by my father as a child.
And each piece is cast in a mould and then individually hand shaped,
which vary according to my interpretation and mood.
Cast in earthenware and stoneware slip and occasionally slab built shapes.
The vessels are all functional and decorative.
Movement is the focal point in my work which is used to express
my love of yoga and of nature, the sea and the ebb and flow of life…
I have participated in group exhibitions and sell locally and overseas.
