Janie Siebert studied Graphic Design and Art,in the late70’s, concentrating on Illustration.
After work in Advertising and a Graphic Studio, and life in rural Transkei, she returned to Cape Town and set up ‘The Handpaint’d House’ Studio.
She explores with stoneware and porcelain clays as surfaces on which to design, creating irregular, one-off platters, bowls, jugs and vessels.
She is an artist, sketcher, photographer and ceramic designer, whose work is closely linked to the basic nurturing aspects of life, with hints of history and old husbandry. Her work is always inspired by God-given indigenous fauna and flora.
She has participated in various group exhibitions, her ceramic platters are in many local and international homes,hotels and corporate offices, plus have been supplied to Anthropology Stores in the USA and London.
